Enterainmentwise.com reports, The Wanted have achieved success on both sides of the Atlantic and can even boast about having their own reality show, but the boyband have revealed their frustration at being stigmatised for being in boyband, admitting that despite their fame some people would never admit to liking their music.
Speaking to Glamour magazine, Nathan admitted that while plenty people are fans their music, they wouldn't readily admit so because of the stigma attached to boybands.
"It’s harder to get the credit as a credible music artist because people instantly put you ten steps backwards," he told the women's magazine.
Going on to explain his theory behind the snub, he added: "We get it all the time: 'We don’t like you because you’re a boy band, but we like your songs.’ No one walks up to Kings of Leon and says, 'I don’t really like you guys because you’re a rock band, but I like your songs,'" he said.
However, the boys are thankful for the loyal fans that they do have and thanked them for accepting their honesty - even if they are a little naughty at times.
Siva Kaneswaran told the magazine: "Our fans know us as being honest, so we give them an honest opinion. Some things [we’ve said] in the past have been a bit too extreme, but as long as people take us – and excuse all the naughty things we say – and focus on our music, I couldn’t care."
